Getting hitched has never been easier!

A new British product called Ezee Hitch has just come onto the market allowing one person to hitch a trailer to their vehicle quickly, safely and unaided. It eradicates the need for jumping in and out of the vehicle by the driver as the usual reversing manoeuvre is performed, and means that there are no more damaged bumpers as the driver often uses this as the cue to stop! It works well on anything with a double axle, whether it is a horse, boat, stock or car trailer.
The new Ezee Hitch, which is assembled in Mid-Wales, can be very simply attached to almost any make and model of trailer in five minutes by anyone who can use a spanner. The whole operation involves only four bolts supplied with the device. It then stays there for the life of the trailer but can be easily removed and attached to any new purchase at a later date.
The inventors, Chris Powell and Ian Tonks, say: “Anyone who has trouble hitching up on their own needs our Ezee Hitch. It will empower people by allowing them to attach their trailer to their vehicle on their own.”
The device works on a simple principle. If you can’t line up the vehicle to the trailer, then just pull the trailer towards the car by means of a simple winch. Due to the unique fully patented design, the Ezee Hitch will also help to steer the trailer as it moves closer, until it places the trailer hitch directly over the tow ball. Then, the user simply lowers the hitch by use of the jockey wheel and the job is done.

It has taken five years to develop the current design, involving a great deal of trialling out in the real world and great attention to detail is very evident. For example, the cable used is imported from the United States and has a breaking strain of 5,500 pounds even though it is only an eighth of an inch (5mm) in diameter. The main part of the device is manufactured in the South Wales town of Bridgend and the winch is from the English Midlands. The assembly work is done in Mid-Wales and in the Midlands.
