Scorpion RIBs are considered to be one of the premier RIB manufacturers in Europe and since being sold to business entrepreneur and confirmed RIB enthusiast, Patrick Byrne, the company has been completely restructured, pressing forward with new designs, personnel and company strategy.
On January 12th this year, Scorpion invited journalists, established customers, friends and business associates to the grand opening of their new, very impressive works situated about a mile from their existing operation in Lymington. The new set up has it all, with a state of the art layout to make the ergonomics flow cohesively from one division to the next. Compared with the rather disjointed layout of the old works at Haven Quay, the new set up is a revelation.
For the time being, the sales office remains at the old premises but everything else, including the GRP moulding work, tube manufacturing, boat fit out and engineering will be carried out at the new climate controlled operation at Ampress Works on the outskirts of Lymington.
Not only does the new expansion allow for new models to be developed and brought into production more quickly, it also allows for a significant increase in the number of craft that can be built over a twelve month period whilst at the same time significantly reduce delivery times.
With 2000 sq feet of spotless new workshop and 29 skilled workers, it is clear that Patrick and his team are here for the long haul and ready to welcome established and new buyers into the Scorpion family.
We wish them every success.
